TEST - Canned Rosé Wines

There is a lot a can can do that a bottle cannot. Infinitely recyclable, more compact, carbon light and on-the-go.

These cans are where convenience and quality converge. Not only are they quick to chill — but they’re also light and save space: much easier, in other words, to stack, pack and carry than bottles (there’s also no risk of broken glass!). This makes them ideal for picnics, events or after a long hike. And there’s no reason for the connoisseurs to worry: these cans retain all the aromas and flavours that Spier’s bottled wines are renowned for.
The small pour (250ml) is ideal to share and allows you to try more than one varietal without having to open a bottle each time.

SPECIFICATIONS

WINEMAKER: Jacques Erasmus

ORIGIN: Western Cape

TERROIR / SOIL: Predominantly Malmesbury shale and Cape granite soils. Vineyards are planted along the coastal zone and towards certain inland areas of the Western Cape.

VINEYARD AND CLIMATE CONDITIONS: Trellised vines aged between 12 and 16 years received supplementary irrigation and produced 10 to 14 tonnes per hectare. Mediterranean climate, with the temperatures lowered by the cooling effect of winds and sea breezes.

WINEMAKING: Grapes were harvested in the early morning, gently crushed and lightly pressed at the cellar, where skin contact was allowed to create the perfect colour. Only the free-run juice was drained off to settle overnight. Fermentation took place in stainless-steel tanks under controlled temperatures between 12º and 14°C.

AWARD WINNING
