SPECIFICATIONS WINEMAKER Heidi Dietstein ORIGIN Coastal Region – Darling, Stellenbosch, Cape Town TERROIR / SOIL Terroir ranges from deep decomposed granite soils with clay subsoil to weathered shale. The medium soil fertility leads to medium growth and medium to low yields. VINEYARD AND CLIMATE CONDITIONS These vines are 12 – 20 years old and supplementary drip irrigation is used in extreme drought conditions. The aftermath of the drought did present us with low and concentrated yields with medium- to full-bodied wines with balanced fruitaromas. WINEMAKING Handpicked grapes were crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Varieties were fermented individually and matured in French oak barrels (20% new, 50% second fill, 30 % third fill) for 12 months before tasting and blending. TASTING NOTE On the nose, blackcurrant and raspberry are layered by subtle oak spice. Fine tannins move across the palate smoothly, supported by a long, lingering finish. DOWNLOAD TASTING NOTE
