SPECIFICATIONS WINEMAKER Anthony Kock ORIGIN Coastal Region (Stellenbosch and Cape Town) TERROIR / SOIL Deep soils of weathered granite, with some deposits of Malmesbury shale. VINEYARD AND CLIMATE CONDITIONS Dryland, semi-trellised vines with an average age of 16 years yielded the grapes for this wine. The fruit was harvested from the first week to the end of February at a yield of 8 to 10 tonnes per hectare from vineyards close to the ocean. WINEMAKING The grapes were hand-harvested early in the morning. Light pressing followed destemming and crushing. Skin contact was limited to 4 hours. The free-run juice drained off to settle overnight before inoculation. 30% of the fermentation took place in 300- and 400-litre barrels with the rest fermented in stainless-steel tanks with French-oak staves. The wine matured for 7 to 9 months before blending.. TASTING NOTE Subtle orange blossom notes are accompanied by appealing aromas of pear drops, with a balanced palate that ends on a long, pure finish. DOWNLOAD TASTING NOTE
